Thanks to Hasbro (who own both My Little Pony and Wizards of the Coast) and River Horse publishing I can bring Barnacle back to life as a D&D Lite MLP character in the world created in Tails of Equestria. Using the included gamemaster screen, character creation sheets, polyhedron dice, and adventure book, players create and role-play as pony heroes who explore and seek adventure in the various lands of Equestria. More noteworthy is that this is where we get stats for creatures and NPCs. Friendship Tokens are earned by leveling up, or are rewarded, at the GM discretion, to good roleplaying, such as acting on a Quirk or going above and beyond for another pony or NPC. While all of the creatures used in the adventure are given game mechanics, it's more noteworthy that this is where we get stats for the Mane Six, and even Zecora to boot!
It's a work in progress but I'm not sure if I'll get back to it for a while. Tails of Equestria: Storytelling Game is an easy to understand pen and paper roleplaying game featuring the world and characters of the hit TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I should note that the combat rules - called "scuffles" here - are set up in such a way that most fights probably won't last long. My daughter is in grade one and not only did she follow along with everything I was reading to her (and pay attention! If either of them has an additional trait that would be useful they roll that as well and keep the better of their rolls. This isn't just a book for RPG gamers. Again, there's a decent array of options and, again, I found myself wishing there were more. They couldn't be happier.
