Though he plays the more typical cold, "selfish" hero, I enjoyed his balance of a haughty but childish deity. He always put wore his heart on his sleeve for her trying to gain her approval and affection. But it was a decent watch even though it didn't live up to its potential. Habaek is that future king. Will I watch this drama again? I liked the fantasy element to the story with the gods having a long history with each other and having magical powers. I'm not sure I liked the Greek-inspired costumes that the deities wore in the celestial realm either. The story begins when Habaek, the God of Water, comes to Earth to find a stone that will help him be crowned king of the gods. I have to admit that my two favorite characters throughout the drama were Moora and Biryeom, although Moora was supposed to be the bad one, her relationship with Biryeom stole, at least for me, the spotlight from the main couple. And it always pays off, this drama has a tempting poster. This whole drama was just pretty people declaring themselves as deities and acting like snobby little bastards and squabbling like high school kids.
Nam Joo Hyuk was an amazing actor, but it seemed like his version of Habaek was a bit 2-dimensional, in my opinion. I loved his character in Weight Lifting Fairy where he starred alongside Lee Sung Kyung, so I have high hopes that his new series would also deliver well. As a fantasy/ paranormal romance, it failed big time. The so called god of water is a narcissistic asshole who's self-centered to the point you're annoyed.
