Originally this muff was designed for the Imco nose cone, but it proably could be adapted to the merc low water pickup. I started by test fitting the cone and using modeling clay on the case. It works gerat and took about 7 hours to do. Flushed out crankcase from water inlet tube that goes to water pump. Now available in Shadow Black Metallic and Matte Black finish. I turn the intake valve on, hit the switch and water gets pumped through the outboard. Basically, only Mercury Racing, and Seven Marine make a proper OE gearcase that is designed to surface. I was able to jack the motor about 1/2 to 3/4 inch higher before loosing too much pressure. Sometimes grass would just set the over temp alarm on until I cleared the grass. What speeds are you getting? As some may now, the options for "muffs" (running the engine on a hose) with a low water pickup are limited. For large number of consumers, this is not a problem. Another factor to consider is when the water inlet is too far up the side of the gearcase, on the side of the propeller down stroke, the inlet actually disrupts water flow to the prop. Did you plug the top two, and join the bottom two, or is that 4th joined with the newly drilled hole? Installed new exhaust/cooling gaskets, head gasket, water pump housing, impeller, gaskets, plate, water pump base housing/oilseal housing..... Now it won't draw water unless hose fed on start and as it warms up it starts to blow exhaust out of the water pickup in the nose cone.

Ok, I'll do the same. The first V6 4-Stroke that was specifically built to power tournament Bass Boats, larger Flats Boats, performance Pontoon Boats and even serious Ski Boats. Needs to be drilled as part of installation to your gear case. NOTE: These nose cones are rough castings that require body filler, finishing and smoothing. NOSE CONES: HYDRO-CONE. I was also on a tight timeline to get it done so I could have spent more time and used less filler but oh well it's done.
