Marie, on the other hand, makes me want to chuck my phone to the wall and that's exceptional because I love my phone. Michael, who is also an aspiring journalist, is then pulled into helping solve the murders and to see if the girl, Marie Catherine Hale, is the true culprit behind all the murders. The only main critique for this book concerns its villain. Then a very, very shaken, very fraught Jordan runs through the house with the gun. All These Bodies by Kendare Blake is a compelling thriller that lingered with me long after I turned the last page. She's a young teenage girl, seemingly without guardians, in a small town run by middle aged men. What's next for you in the bookish world? Review of All These Bodies. Yes, that's exactly what she meant. This book doesn't give me an option to believe in and it feels like I'm patching up pieces from newspaper clippings. But is he willing to hear it, and most importantly, will he believe what Marie has to tell him, before their time runs out?
I dunno, I just don't think this author's for me. After All These Bodies, I'm kicking off a new trilogy set in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer launching February 2022. When I first started, I was instantly reminded of Truman Capote's masterpiece, In Cold Blood. Check out my review of All These Bodies, plus a Q and A with Kendare! Another gruesome murder, but this time a teen girl is found at the scene. I don't want to feel like I wasted my time. No one knowing who did it, no leads at all. I mean, whatever happened to predictability? All these bodies ending explained spoilers. These are intriguing questions raised by this seemingly innocuous Young Adult horror take on Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. Not because anyone thinks she killed the Carlsons but because they're sure that she knows who actually did. Overall I really enjoyed All These Bodies. A deep carving of a weird symbol. Then, we have to ask ourselves if we want answers, really, or if we just want the stories to satisfy some itch. It seems like she's got something she wants to get off her chest but won't.
Michael is the teenage son of the sheriff. Blake wants readers to feel like things are spooky and unnatural, but misses opportunities to let us feel unnerved. There was a lot of build-up to the case trial and when it does actually come around it is quite underwhelming. I mean, you've got to be adventurous. I also loved the murders. Kendare Blake effortlessly captured this 1958 small town vibe, with all of its pure goodness, barring that one rotten apple stinking it all up. Michael is both nervous and excited to be interviewing her. All these bodies ending explained and season. That anyone is capable of doing horrible things. I liked the atmosphere at first and it seemed like I could enjoy it, but I didn't, my biggest problem was that I didn't find it believable that a 16 year old teenager was interrogating an alleged culprit, in fact those scenes felt like it was for adults, but then the boy said he had to go to school and reminded me that he was young, also that ending was disappointing, I felt like I read for nothing, waste of time. But as it turns out, he's just messing with them. It turns out the car battery's dead for the one car that they have at the house, and so after this really frantic and pretty legitimately tense, I think, and frightening scene where they're running around a dark house with just their phone flashlights trying to figure out why one of their party has suddenly died, we enter into the middle section of the movie where they've accepted that they're trapped in the house. Maybe I'm too dense to have realised it or I'm not remembering properly, so do let me know if I am wrong. I think what I enjoyed most about ALL THESE BODIES was that it was a story about the stories we use to define ourselves. Marie and Pilson exhibit a strong mutual hatred from the start, not helped by the fact that he's up for reelection soon and wants to appear tough on crime.
ALL THESE BODIES will leave you questioning what really happened in a good way. Carina's Books: Review: All These Bodies by Kendare Blake. This is the third Kendare Blake novel I've tried, including Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares. I thought that it was fun while also being genuinely scary at certain times, but I also thought that the commentary on Gen Z was really interesting. The pretty girl is not like other girls he knows. "That's all the good journalists are after.
Marie was sure he was dead and under those floorboards. While the focus is predominantly on Michael, Marie, and the 'Bloodless Murders', we experience this ominous figure who menaces the story from the shadows. All These Bodies is a book that always left me thinking. All these bodies ending explained in detail. They talked about why no one seemed to put up a fight whilst being murdered, but she decided that maybe they didn't realize what was happening until it was too late. Instead of deciding to be clear cut in her story and what is going on, Blake instead opts to leave some things a bit open ended so the reader has to draw their own conclusions as to what happened to all the bodies drained of blood.
Initially mistaken for a survivor, it turns out, none of the blood is hers and Miss Hale didn't previously know the Carlsons. Nadira Goffe: I think so, more like a sort of Gen Z murder mystery, who's killing everyone in the house type of vibe. What did I think of her latest? They reported the carvings to Sheriff Jensen, but not the attempted murder. Bee tackles Jordan on the second floor of the house, and Jordan ends up getting thrown over the second floor banister and falling onto a table full of crushed beer cans and glass, to her death. The story is told from Michael's point of view. Michael can't believe his luck.
I had a hard time finding a protagonist in this movie to want to even be the final girl or final guy. Everyone else in town is convinced that Marie is the perpetrator, as are authorities from Nebraska, where other victims were found. To the chagrin of law enforcement, she doesn't believe that anyone would be able to find the Bloodless Murderer and stop him from killing again. Throughout the book, there are many powerful themes, including what happens to women's stories in the media and what it means for something to be true.
My take on this author is that her stories seem to be juuuuust missing something. A treat for mystery readers who enjoy being kept in suspense. Review: Back in October I found myself in a super stressful situation. But that aside, I'm pretty sure I know where I fall in terms of conclusions, but you could make the argument for it to go the other way. Six teen influencers in the worlds of beauty, gaming, books, and more are invited to a late medieval Gothic era–themed resort, the brainchild of a billionaire who has spared no expense in building an eerie amusement park on the newly created, human-made Jagged Island.
Michael is seen as a "friend" of sorts. Michael's constant struggle with his want to believe Marie and his need to get to the bottom of the story is transferred onto us as the reader: whenever he outrightly questions her truth, we are also there for when he experiences something unexplainable. In essence, this is a slasher film in book form, filled with the gore and violence fans anticipate and expect. Often I pride myself on being able to guess the 'twists' of books, but this one genuinely was not easy to guess. One time in particular, he made his elderly victims see himself and Marie as their grandchildren. And then there was Percy. I think I'm technically a zillennial, so right on the cusp, but I definitely identify with a lot of their tendencies and reactions. Marie announces that Michael is the only one she will talk to.
WANT TO SEE WHAT I'VE BEEN READING LATELY? It was just all started by David and his one accident, all for a TikTok. Also I may be dumb, but what even was that last chapter??? This time, instead of talking about girls, they talked about vampires.
If people aren't going to believe a woman for being true to herself and clinging to her sense of self-respect, why not tell an outlandish story instead?
