PS, Jeezzz Killer, 4ga, how much current do your fuel pumps need???? Since the relay contacts are to NC, it's odd that you can't turn the FP on with 12v at "G" of the ALCL diagnostic port. Again, why are you installing a relay on the fuel pump power line? Can you upload a picture? I ground the EEC test port and both pumps came out the inertia switch but it made no difference. The recommendation to install the kill switch on the ground, probably means the PGM-FI Main Relay ground, there are three good reasons for doing so, first it is a ground, [your not messing with 12V+, the PGM-FI Main Relay ground is low current, [less then 250mA] requiring a very small, easily hidden 1A switch, and lastly, no ground to the PGM-FI Main Relay "kills" the fuel pump, the fuel injectors, the ECU/ECM and a few engine valve/solenoids. 14. sounds screwed for the help... I checked both grounds tied them straight to neg. 13. one easy way to see if you're even getting that pulse from the ecm is to hook a test light up at your f/p relay connector. This is because larger pumps require more power to flow the same equivalent amount of fuel as smaller pumps, due to their larger impeller. There's either an internal issue with the fuse block itself, or you have an open circuit somewhere between the fuse block and the pump itself. It will be a black/white wire. The other is open when the engine is stopped (no continuity to ground) and grounds when the engine is running. G104 also grounds the ECM. If I have a bad ground from the FP relay, can I cut the wire by the relay and splice in a new wire and ground it out on my frame or something? If you have a mismatch, then you may need to choose a different fuel pump. When i wedge the black wire behind the metal tab thing (what it was connected to before) i can turn the key and hear the fuel pump run and the gas guage works. Do you know a network tech? Remember there is (likely) gasoline still in the pump/filter.
You really, really do not want to have a hot electrical connection by a fuel pump. Purple which I think is + for sending unit i don't know. I'll try what was recommended. I would like to keep the fuel pump relay in the factory position just want to be able to kill its ground source, is there any way to do this or do i have to remove the fuel pump relay from the factory location to implement a ground switch. With the alligator clip attached to the battery "+" post, the light will glow only if you probe a ground/earth. If the rewire, [relay install] is not being used as a security layer, as yours is not, the ground to #87 is pointless and it makes absolutely no diff. Ofcourse, if the pump used has a different connector, then you must change it.
Tape it up and reinstall the split loom covering. Note how the grey OEM connector is used to provide a "signal" to the relay. Same questions, same causes, same answers.
