My Review: Thrilled to finally get in on #1 of a new book series, I dived into this one about protagonist ex-pat American Eve Mallow in Saxford St Peter, a quaint Suffolk village. The spine remains undamaged. Clare Chase has written a series of 16 books. I've tried to eradicate my early embarrassing attempts at writing, but there are so many of them they keep appearing even now, tucked into old exercise books, or shoved into boxes. But Tara's past experience with police has left her wary of police in general. As well as writing Emory's obituary, Eve is determined to investigate who was responsible for his death.
Note: All written content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. I also liked a few of the characters that were involved in the murder investigation but I assume we won't see them again as it didn't seem like any characters from previous mysteries showed up here. As mentioned at the beginning of this review, I would still read more about Eve because she seems to be a level-headed character who would be interesting to see further pursuits of.
Every scene is so rich in atmosphere and each character has such visual impact, that I can imagine myself sat in 'Monty's' tearooms, eating one of Viv's delicious cakes and drinking coffee from her mis-matched china – whilst surreptitiously eavesdropping on all the latest gossip of course! Eve was a very likeable main character. Although Emory's relationships are complicated, both with his family and their neighbours who have bought the Fulton's ancestral home, Eve still feels that he is a kind and caring man.
